Six XSE-600-15-15 humidity chambers were sold by Thermotron to a semiconductor manufacturer to test microprocessors for integration into PCs, tablets, mobile phones, etc.
Through using one central server to monitor the items are loaded into the humidity chambers along with which profile (environmental and/or electrical) is carried out, the customer automates testing practices. To decide if the goods follow the criteria, the data output from each test is evaluated by the central server. Our TestToolsTM Multi-Voltage Biased Rack implements this automation (MVBR).
This humidity chamber is unique for a few reasons.
1. To stop condensation, the items under examination must remain warmer than the dew point. Thermotron invented Product Dewpoint Regulation to do this (PDC).
In order to automatically keep the product warmer than the humidity chamber dew point, the PDC functionality uses algorithms programmed into the 8800 programmer controller. This enables the 8800 to implement the best ramp rate possible to the ideal conditions of temperature/relative humidity while eliminating condensation on the items under test. In the simplest configuration, when in dewpoint mode, the product temperature control sensor becomes the PDC sensor.A second control module was attached to these moisture chambers so that 7 additional thermocouples could be distributed within the chamber.
In order to preserve the right offset between product temperature and test chamber air temperature, the 8800 algorithm then uses a minimum of eight thermocouple readings (PDC thermocouple + 7 extras). Like other solutions we have, such as humidity, low humidity, purge, etc., the PDC option will be open to clients. If the program is modified, the PDC can be retrofitted into existing chambers.
2. The humidity chambers were designed for worldwide output at 50Hz and 60Hz. If the research was done in the United States, Europe, or the Far East, the client wanted the same test results. A variable speed drive ensures constant airflow irrespective of the operating voltage of the client.
3. Two ports were included in the specification to accommodate custom connections for product powering and thermocouple data recording. The reverse port is similar to our proprietary universal port because it provides access through a reversible port into the moisture chamber. It varies from the customary or non-standard design of the reverse port because it has different dimensions, special connections, unique port sizes, etc.
4. The steam generator is dimensioned over a broad temperature/humidity range to accommodate large live loads.
An SE environmental test chamber with the optional PDC feature would be required for companies testing products susceptible to condensation in industries such as space, defense, electronics, aerospace, automotive telecommunications, etc. Also, the dual power feature will support businesses with numerous test laboratory locations worldwide.
